THIS is why we don't have flying cars.

Little children, in the future, we will have miraculous machines... we will have devices that can send messages to each other wirelessly, both text and the sound of your voice.  We will have computers both flat and slender and small and compact, computers that have the same abilities that once were housed in massive rooms and programmed using bulky punch cards.

In the future, almost every device will have its own computer, a chip telling you when it needs maintenance, a chip telling you when it needs fuel.  Every device you own will have indicator lights and bells and chimes and occasionally it will flash text alerts at you, saying, "Your food is ready!"

In the future, children, there will be tiny computers to tell you where you are, where you've been, and whether your paycheck has been deposited -- which will all be handled automatically.  Your bills will be paid automatically too, on a schedule.  Tiny storage devices will contain more data than a room full of printed paper could.  In the future, it will all happen.

And, when that shining day comes... every single one of these goddamn things will break at LEAST once a week.
