Movie Quote Meme
I'm so enjoying using this icon for memes.

Anyway, here's the meme, and without text to copy from other instances of this meme, I'll just wing it: here are some movie quotes. I went more for "I like this quote" than for "Nobody will ever guess THIS one". Identify the movies! I'll give credit to whoever gets them first. No Googling allowed unless you are a prideless troglodyte.

Unless you think troglodytes are cool. It's kind of a cool word, actually. I'd have to really stop and think before I could be offended by someone calling me that.

1. "Maybe I'll just sit here and bleed at you." -- Brick, as guessed by newbabel

2. "My God... it even has a watermark." -- American Psycho, as guessed by geogre

3. "Who would claim to be that... who was not?" -- Untouchables, as guessed by jjhunter

4. "Other people have told me that before, and it was meaningless. When you say it, I hear it." -- Requiem for a Dream, as guessed by geogre

5. "He offered you parts in Cats? I thought you hated Cats. You said it was an all time low in a lifetime of theatre going. You said, 'Aeschylus did not invent the theatre to have it end up a bunch of chorus kids in cat suits prancing around wondering which of them will go to kitty-cat heaven'."

6. "Of course it's dark, it's a suicide note." -- The Royal Tenenbaums, as guessed by havenstone

7. "Even Hell has its heros, señor." -- The Ninth Gate, as guessed by geogre

8. "There is a war on. How is it you are going to Kentucky?" "Well, we kinda face to the north and then, real sudden-like, turn left." -- The Last of the Mohicans, as guessed by mike_b

9. "Friend, some of your foldin' money's come unstole." -- O Brother, Where Art Thou, as guessed by clockworktomato

10. "Your naive idiocy makes me VERY ANGRY!" -- Lawnmower Man, as guessed by geogre, FTW!!

11. "Have you been sexually molested yet? Because I can circle the block."

12. "I am a bearer, I am a dwelling, I am a messenger..." "You are an idiot!" -- The Last Unicorn, as guessed by fox_bard

13. "We aren't here to make things perfect. The snowflakes are perfect... the stars are perfect. Not us. Not us! We are here to ruin ourselves and to break our hearts and love the wrong people and die!"

14. "You're not a bad guy, you know. You're just not a very good one."

15. "We knew the girls were really women in disguise, that they understood love, and even death, and that our job was merely to create the noise that seemed to fascinate them." -- The Virgin Suicides, as guessed by clockworktomato

16. "How great is it for you that I'm not intimidated by your brilliance?"

17. "You've glazed my wife in dried piss!"

18. "I'm expendable! I'm the guy in the episode who dies to prove how serious the situation is! I've gotta get outta here!" -- Galaxy Quest, as guessed by ladybird97

19. "But the man's a fool, he's a total mediocrity!" "No, no, he has yet to achieve mediocrity." -- Amadeus, as guessed by ladybird97

20. "I put a gun to my father's head once. Ever think like that? He was passed out. Had just been yelling at my mom over nothing. Under-cooked meat. I went to my room, I held the barrel right up to his ear, and then I chickened out again. Of course it was a BB gun but still it would have hurt like hell." -- Life As a House, as guessed by geogre

I guess I should stop at twenty... there are so many good ones!

The Virgin Suicides!

Ah, yes. So many lovely ones in this film.

Oh, also, I think 9 is from Oh Brother, Where Art Thou? :D
Wiseacreewin on March 15th, 2008 03:29 pm (UTC)
Accent kinda gave that one away, I think... :) But it's still my favorite quote in the whole thing. Along with just about anything Delmar says.

18 is Galaxy Quest! I love that movie.

Is 19 Amadeus?

And I swear 5 and 6 sound really familiar, but I can't place them. I'm going to end up Googling just to satisfy my brain.
Becky: questionladybird97 on March 15th, 2008 01:23 pm (UTC)
Huh. As it turns out, I've never seen 5. And I have seen 6 :)

Thanks a _lot_, now I have King Friday's song to his pet Wren (latin name: Troglodytes aedon, also the title of the song I think,) stuck in my head. Aaaaaah.

PS: OMG, it actually gets mentioned in the wikipedia article on house wrens. Why does my brain REMEMBER this stuff? And wow, the house wren was totally the kind of small but bitchin' bird that KFXIII would go for, isn't it?

Is 20 from Natural Born Killers? Second guess for that would be The Doors, that kind of sounds like something Jim Morrison might have said, just for shock value ya know.
Wiseacreewin on March 15th, 2008 05:39 pm (UTC)
Nope. It's actually from a very sweet, moving film that I'm pretty sure nobody has ever seen. :)

3. The Untouchables - from Sean Connery's character.
Wiseacreewin on March 15th, 2008 07:29 pm (UTC)
Still my favorite movie. :)
mikebmike_b on March 15th, 2008 07:53 pm (UTC)

Wiseacreewin on March 15th, 2008 08:08 pm (UTC)
8. Isn't that just the best scene evar? :)

6. Fageddaboudit. :) I'm surprised nobody's gotten this one yet, actually.

6 is Tenenbaums. Luke Wilson.

I know I know 1, but I've got to think about it.

12 drove me so crazy that I looked it up and head-smacked myself. Of course there was a reason that I had it all but memorized... and a reason I would never have guessed it in a million years. (I think I've seen the movie once).
Wiseacreewin on March 16th, 2008 12:29 am (UTC)
Ah, yes, very good. I picked that quote because that was the point in the movie where I suddenly decided that I really, really liked it. :)

1 was also from something insanely quotable and rarely seen.

12 may also have been in the book. I'd have to check.

1 is Brick. An absolutely brilliant movie.
Wiseacreewin on March 16th, 2008 06:37 am (UTC)
It was SO HARD choosing a quote from it, too!!

I also love, "Do you trust me now?" "Less than when I didn't trust you before."
Xandrefox_bard on March 16th, 2008 02:42 pm (UTC)
12 = The Last Unicorn
Wiseacreewin on March 16th, 2008 03:53 pm (UTC)
Yayyy! :)

2 would be a conversation about business cards would it not? American Psycho.

4 is a very vile evil movie called Requiem for a Dream. But I remember Jennifer Connelly saying that - I just had to place the movie.

20 is that that Life As A House movie you showed me?
Wiseacreewin on March 16th, 2008 03:56 pm (UTC)
Yay, I knew you would get 2 at least. I love that line.

Requiem is NOT a very vile evil movie, boo. :) Bad things happen to Jennifer Connelly in lots of films.

20. I am impressed! Yes. I show that movie to lots of people.

Thanks. :) I'm probably going to repost a link to this on Monday for the read-lj-at-work folks, and post answers by Friday or so.

Okay, so 16 sounds familiar but maybe I just want it to be? Otherwise, out of the other movies, I saw Amadeus in 4th grade, and The Virgin Suicides around 4 years ago or so.

Nothing else. :(
