Blogathon 2008:  Some Basic Instructions

My sincere thanks to digitalemur, who clued me in to the fact that a lot of folks don't know how this works.

Here is what you do:

You pledge some amount of money to my Blogathon efforts.  It can be per hour if that's how you want to roll, or you may feel free to pledge a lump sum for the whole shebang!  I welcome small donations; if $2 is what you can spare, pledge it with pride.  If $0 is what you can spare, then just send me a "good luck" and spread the word for me, however you can.

You do not donate your pledge until I finish the marathon; i.e., not until next Sunday, when I should have Blogathonned the live-long day.

Once I finish, you go here, and you donate!  Voila!

We do this by the honor system.  If you pledge, it's up to you to keep your promise and donate.  I won't go around policing anybody.  I'm also doing my best to stay out of the money loop... there are a couple of reasons for this.  For one thing, I don't want anything bad to happen to anybody else's donation, and for another thing, I don't want the AHA to run into any legal issues as far as my "representing them" is concerned.  I'm not a spokesman for them, by any means.

That said, if you don't want to go online and donate to them, if the only way you feel comfortable doing this is to send me a check directly, then I will be happy to make your donation for you.  Just give me a way to contact you and give you my mailing address.

In the meantime, if you're reading this, you can help!  Tell people about Blogathon, and pledge donations of all kinds to Team Venture!  That's right, there's a whole group of us doing this, each for a worthy cause.
